Area and Location:

Ilala Municipal Council that also bears the Status of “ a District Administrative Centre in Dar es Salaam region ” has an area of 210 square kilometers.
It lies between Longitude 390 and 400 East and between Latitude 60 and 70 South of the equator.
On its eastern part it boarders with Indian Ocean for a distance of about 10 kilometers. On its Southern part Ilala is bordered by Temeke Municipality, whereas on its Western part is bordered by Kisarawe District of another Region named Pwani.
